This plaque is attached to the trunk of a tree beside the A515, near the village of Fenny Bentley in Derbyshire. The message is rather touching and somewhat mysterious. My guess is that "Nick" died in a road accident of some kind. Perhaps he was a motorcyclist? There are countless signs along the A515 between Ashbourne and Buxton, imploring motorcyclists (and motorists) to take care.

Solomon's Temple, a.k.a. Grinlow Tower, was built in 1896 by a local man named Solomon Mycock, to provide work for the unemployed. It is 25 feet high and stands on a hill 1440 ft above sea level. From the top, there are fine views of Buxton and its surroundings, with nearby peaks such as Mam Tor and Kinder Scout visible on the horizon.
