Looking down Haigh Road from the junction with Wood Lane, with Rothwell Baptist Church visible in the foreground on the right. The traffic island and street lighting are the most prominent changes since the 1931 view on the left.

The view on the left is c.1960, although from the quality of the photograph it looks older.

The Lychgate at the south-east entrance to the churchyard is constructed of wood and stone and was installed in 1889. The view on the left is from 1908. A century later, we can see that the cross at the apex of the roof has been lost, and the bottom step has gone.

This shows the porch covering the south door of Holy Trinity Church, Rothwell. The view on the left, from 1908, features a square sundial above the arch, dating from 1821. There has been significant restoration to the stonework of the modern porch, in the course of which the gnomon and sundial markings have disappeared.

The John O'Gaunt Hotel was built in 1822. It advertised "good accomodation for man or beast" - perhaps explaining the existence of the open shed alongside the hotel, seen in the undated view on the left. It is now home to Dewan, the local indian restaurant.
