When fed grapes, the meerkats roll them repeatedly across the rough ground. It looks rather like they are having difficulty gripping them, but the behaviour actually arises from the fact that they eat poisonous millipedes and other critters in the wild. Rolling such prey along the ground is apparently an effective way of scrubbing off the poisonous parts.
