I took this photo from a bus in Xinjiang, in western China. This photo is the reason why my nickname is "nicointhebus" as this is probably my most popular photo. I gave this title as, when I was visiting this Uyghur region in 2005, it became pretty clear for me that the future of this minority would be quite complicated and uncertain within the Han dominated China. Nevertheless, I could not imagine how badly things would turn after the new policy implementation in 2016
