Stokksnes Lighthouse, Southeast Iceland.
Behind me somewhere amongst all the mist and rain was the famous Vestrahorn mountain but out to sea over the North Atlantic there were patches of sunlight and even blue sky. Such is the nature of this part of the island. The Gulf Stream brushes its shores and brings warm moist air that perforce must rise over the land, cool and unload itself... repeatedly.
Posted a colour version a few years ago and always wanted to have another crack at it. Not sure if I'm happy with this one either.

Another pic from January 2016 of the gulch and the tree in Skeleton Bay/larapuna/Bay of Fires, Tasmania. This pic taken just after sunrise the same day as my last post from here. I note that it was pretty calm in this frame - the swell made during the day. One more to come...
This frame had to be in B&W due to some really bad artefacts from the el-cheapo ND filter I used back then.
Don't waste money on cheap filters. It's a waste of money!
Sony A7R, Yashica 24/2.8 CY, 30 secs at f/8, ISO 200.
Rubbish, unmentionable, no-name, crappy, hopeless 10 Stop ND filter.

Tasmania Police Patrol Vessel, Vigilant.
Bludging at anchor in Waubs Bay, Bicheno, Tasmania.
Designed and built by Ray Kemp, the Vigilant was launched in 1971 and has operated as an auxiliary patrol craft since then. She's 52' at the waterline and constructed from the superior boat-building timber, Huon Pine, which species is endemic to Tasmania.
A nice evening to be down by the water - apart from filling the boots up a little...

From the window of the aircraft at 40,000ft - the fractal fringes of Australia's 'inland sea', Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre.
This area in the middle of the continent is vast - this frame shows vegetated dunes at the right and partially filled drainage channels leading up to the left. A main channel runs through the bottom of the frame along with the edges of the window. My best guess is that this is probably in the area of the Finke River catchment on the north-western edge of the lake.
The lake is heavily saline through evaporation and is approx. 15m below sea-level at its deepest point and subject to the whims of the climate. Sometimes it floods, sometimes it dries out completely.
The pale, misty patches in the frame are frozen water droplets trapped inside the window of the aircraft - seriously annoying for the photographer in the window seat.
