Got a little out of order in this series. This pic is taken about 100k away from the previous two. Bad luck really - they were all taken on the same day with the same lens however.
The windmill is at Tunbridge. A tiny village of a few houses that has long since been bypassed by the highway. There's not really a lot to do in Tunbridge. Once known as Tunbridge Wells, the town had an important part in the development of Tasmania - it featured several inns and numerous stables for the horse drawn coach service from Hobart town to Launceston in the north of Van Diemans Land. It also had a railway station when the steam locomotive replaced the horse.
Now the horseless carriage has done for the loco, Tunbridge is slowly passing into the parched and barren landscape of the Tasmanian Midlands.

Close up of a dried Teasle head growing wild beside the Nile Road, northern Tasmania.
Nile is a tiny farming hamlet with barley, oats, sorghum, poppies, sheep and cattle. Irrigated sections are plenty and there are some pretty big operations here.
Teasel seems to grow in strips along the sides of roads or fences. While it is still a weed, it's not as common or damaging as scotch thistle or the wretched gorse but was no doubt introduced along with sheep from England in the settlement of Van Diemans Land.

Slightly different framing and colour shot of a solitary fence post beside the road at Nile, northern Tasmania.
Pretty windy day when I was there but the colour and movement of the grass and teasel heads caught my eye.

Out with the S-M-C Super Takumar 105/2.8 and spied this unfortunate, boat-struck mullet in the river. Was going to be a discard until I looked closer at the ripples and how the poor fish seemed to be above the actual surface.
This image is dedicated to unfortunate fish in all our oceans, rivers, lakes, ponds and streams.

Out with the Sony and the Olympus OM Zuiko 50/1.2.
This is an outstanding low light lens that renders nicely at the higher ISOs.
Here a pic from a late night hotel lobby.
