What can I say? If a boat sails through the offshore sparkles like this then they were asking for a trope... :-)

The collection of sinister-looking islets, rocks, reefs and sundry hazards to navigation known as The Needles. Maatsuyker Island, South Coast, Tasmania.

Fairly benign day when this was made but it's worth looking at a map of the relationship between the southern end of Tasmania and the Great Southern Ocean.

From the film archive circa 1988.

Nikon F3HP, Nikkor 35-70 f/3.5-4.5 AIS, probably around 1000th sec at f/16 on Kodak Gold 400. ~70mm.

While shooting the big waves at Ironhouse Point, a large lenticular cloud formed over St Marys Peak, the pinnacle at the left. Lasted for about 20 mins before dissipating.

A border collie that was playing up the beach seemed to stop for a bit and watched the cloud.

Once again the harsh light gave me grief with blown highlights but it does give a sense of the lighting. I also had a hard time choosing between the colour or the mono version - might post the colour one another day.

Nikon Z6, Nikkor Z 24-200/4-6.3, 1/200th sec at f/18, ISO 80.

I love beachcombing - the endless mystery of what lies around the next point surrounded by all the sounds and smells of the ocean beside me...

This is the northern end of the Friendly Beaches on the Tasmanian East Coast. Butlers Point reaching out into the Tasman Sea at the end of the beach, with Cape Lodi looming over it.

The expanse of beaches here are all part of the Freycinet National Park. Middle of winter here in this pic so no surprise to have nobody else on it...

Archive frame 2016 discovered while looking for something else. This from when I had an A7Rii and the (then) last of my Nikon lenses - the stellar AF-S 20mm f/1.8 G. Since replaced with the Z version which is even sharper.

Sony A7Rii, Nikon Nikkor AF-S 20mm f.2.8 G, 1.5 secs ISO 64. Probably a Nisi 10 Stop.

A very big 'Thank You' to everyone that views, faves and comments on my work! It's really appreciated :-)
