Trial Harbour and the Great Southern Ocean with a good fresh breeze a couple of points to the south of sou' west. Nothing between here and the Antarctic.
Trial Harbour was the exit point for much of Tasmania's early wealth. Rich seams of silver were found ~15k inland at Zeehan - up to 6kg silver per tonne of ore in one mine. A haulage way was constructed to the shore and the silver loaded by lighters onto steamers lying offshore. Inbound goods the same.
At one point Zeehan was Australia's richest city boasting numerous hotels, music halls and all the trappings of a boom town.
A rail line was eventually constructed from Zeehan to Strahan to the south where a safer harbour made transport much easier but the weather no less savage. Of course the silver ran out, most of the people left and our West Coast climate and vegetation began reclaiming its own.
There was plenty of drama in the squalls that were coming through and I was hoping for a big sea the day we were there. Although the day was wild, the swell hadn't yet made up. Have been wanting to experiment with slower shutter speeds with waves for a while.

Granville Harbour Wind Farm.
Wind farms are contentious. This farm is in the known flight path of a number of severely threatened migratory bird species and in the hunting range of a couple of pairs of the endemic Wedge Tailed Eagle.
The farm is however situated on private land that receives the full brunt of the Roaring Forties - the band of westerly winds that circumnavigate the globe in the latitude 40° S.
Even though the farm is sited in the prime location for the harvesting of wind power, some of the turbines had stopped when this pic was taken and their blades feathered - clearly it was a very stiff breeze.

Disclaimer: I took the picture for the drama in front of me at the time, not to make any political statement.
