Little bit of stormy weather here the other day. Walked outside to see what was about and there was a small patch of mammatus cloud with the sun right behind it.

Mammatus are caused by sinking air but don't necessarily mean a thunderstorm is immanent.

Took a couple of quick pics with the GRIII before the heavens opened.

There's a small bird or flying insect at 9 o'clock for scale but I like that weird negative vibe.

Ricoh GRIII, 18.3 GR Lens, 1/500th sec at f/14, ISO 100.

Not a small screen image...

Inside the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, Reykjavík, Iceland.

Harpa was designed by Danish firm Henning Larsen Architects in co-operation with Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson.

The building was inspired by Iceland's columnar basalt landscape and by the colour of old ice I suspect. The structure consists of a steel framework clad with geometric shaped glass panels of different colours.

The last (for now) of my 2015 archive revisits and just like a slide, upside down and back to front ;)

Fuji X-T1, XF14/2.8, 1/250th sec at f/7.1, ISO 200

A very big 'Thank You' to everyone that views, faves and comments on my work! I really appreciate your visit :-)

I like the idea of closeup work but invariably it's the wider view that catches me.

So for a change here's a bit of rain dappled flax :-)

Sony A7Rii, Contax Zeiss G45/2 Frankenzeiss, 1/320th sec at f/2, ISO 100.

The Frankenzeiss is a Contax Zeiss T* G45mm f/2 Planar lens optical block inserted into a donor Minolta PF55/1.7 body that has been modded to Leica M-Mount. The adapter has an additional macro throw that reduces the somewhat long MFD of the original lens to around 200mm.

From the window of the aircraft at 40,000ft - the fractal fringes of Australia's 'inland sea', Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre.

This area in the middle of the continent is vast - this frame shows vegetated dunes at the right and partially filled drainage channels leading up to the left. A main channel runs through the bottom of the frame along with the edges of the window. My best guess is that this is probably in the area of the Finke River catchment on the north-western edge of the lake.

The lake is heavily saline through evaporation and is approx. 15m below sea-level at its deepest point and subject to the whims of the climate. Sometimes it floods, sometimes it dries out completely.

The pale, misty patches in the frame are frozen water droplets trapped inside the window of the aircraft - seriously annoying for the photographer in the window seat.

A pool among the buttongrass alongside the boardwalk at Ronny Creek, Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania.

Buttongrass, Gymnoschoenus sphaerocephalus, is a species of tussock-forming sedge from southeastern Australia.

There are many wombats (Vombats ursinus) in the immediate vicinity and they keep their lawn in a very trimmed condition.

Bronica RF645, Zenzanon RF65mm f/4 lens. 1/60th sec at f/5.6, Kodak TMAX 400.
