It's a great feeling when all of your planning pays off. I wanted a sunrise shot with some water for reflections and a mountain range. The mountains block out the sun perfectly, and all of the colors are still visible. I searched maps for where I was going to stay and checked out the angle of the sunrise. As I drove up to the campsite, the gates were closed. "NO!!" I parked the car anyway and hustled over to the shore, and snapped shots as I went along. Watching this unfold was a rush, and being able to share this is why I do what I do.

After mild February Saturday, I made the decision to get up at 4am to shoot the sunrise at the coast on Sunday. I tend to usually grab the 16-35 and shoot wide, because I think "I've got to get everything!" But I have some great lenses that I under utilize. So I forced myself to take a step back (in this case MANY steps back) and use my 70-200 to dial in just one section.

Taken from the Camden Waterfront, featuring the Battleship New Jersey (built in 1942).
Even though dark clouds were rolling in and blocking a lot of the sunset colors, a tear had opened up along the horizon. Out of it spilled these varying orange hues. Just in front of the battleship is a ferry that will shuttle you to Penn's Landing Penn's Landing and back. And just in back of the 74 year old ship is the Walt Whitman Bridge
