That's what it takes to get the tarnish off these brass sash window lifts. When we came to refurbish the sash windows in this house the brass furniture had been covered in many layers of paint. Taking the paint off is relatively easy, but getting the metal to really shine again takes considerable physical effort. Time for another cup of tea, I think.

We had just finished our visit to the fascinating Porthcurno Telegraph Museum, but sadly their restaurant hasn't been built yet, so we raced off to nearby Land's End. To say we were starving hungry would be putting it mildly. I took one look at the menu and knew exactly what I wanted. Delicious!

This is a souvenir I brought back from my recent visit to Calne: a special beer from Wiltshire brewer Arkell's. It's since been consumed, and very nice it was too.

Last three from Malta. That's not sand, it's the deck of the catamaran on board which we enjoyed a very pleasant day's excursion, sailing along Malta's north coast to the islands of Comino and Gozo. At the famous Blue Lagoon there was an opportunity for snorkelling, for those that wanted to.
