Class 37 No. 37286 and class 50 No. 50008 Thunderer pause at Barry station with the "Welsh Wizard" railtour on Saturday 27th January 1979. This railtour ran from Paddington and visited a number of interesting locations in South Wales that didn't often see a passenger train, ending up at Swansea before the return run to London. In all, four different class 37s worked the train during the day, as well as the "50".

Class 50 locomotive No. 50007 pauses at Solihull with the 11:22 Liverpool Lime St - London Paddington service on 25th February 1981.

The shutter speed I'd selected wasn't quite fast enough to stop this first generation dmu as it burst out from under the bridge here at Kings Norton station. The unit was working the 14:02 Lichfield - Longbridge cross city line service on Wednesday 25th February 1981. Meanwhile, a West Midlands PTE Leyland National bus crosses the bridge.
