U.S. Army Gen. Daniel R. Hokanson, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, visits the New York Air National Guard’s 106th Rescue Wing at F.S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base in Westhmapton Beach, NY on Nov. 5 to see and learn about the wing’s capabilities first hand through exercise scenarios and receive a brief on the HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter in contrast to the new HH-60W model aircraft.
Hokanson was greeted by New York National Guard leadership and the 106th Rescue Wing commander, Col. Shawn Fitzgerald and Chief Master Sgt. Michael Hewson, 106th command chief.
During Hokanson’s visit he met with Airmen from across the wing as they participated in training as well as during lunch and in a town hall style discussion with all the wing’s councils.
Hokanson has over 2600 flight hours, including 50 combat hours, and has flown the AH-64, OH-58, TH-55, UH-1 and UH-60.
