New York Army National Guard, SPC Gallardo Gonzaga of the 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion completes the 12-mile ruck march portion of the Best Squad in the 160th Theater Signal Brigade Competition, it was held March 18-21, 2024 at Camp Arifjan and Camp Buehring, Kuwait. The competitors went through a rigorous gauntlet of tasks and events including the Army combat fitness test, individual weapons qualification, timed 12-mile ruck march, land navigation and a review board to determine the best squad in the brigade. The 101st mission is to provide tactical communications throughout the United States Central Command Area of Operations. The unit is currently spread out across nine countries within the middle east.
