The retail shops opened recently at the Westfield World Trade Center turning the Calatrava designed Oculus into a tourist destination.

This cute little dog seems to be gazing adoringly up at Calatrava's Oculus - the centerpiece of the Transportation Hub in Lower Manhattan. Many of the retail spaces are open with more scheduled in the weeks ahead.

File this under things that don't make sense. Currently there is an exhibit of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel paintings at the Oculus in lower Manhattan. "Near original size" reproductions of the paintings are on display. As you can see the reproductions can be viewed for free from both far away or up close by walking across the open floor which is a public space. For $20 you can walk among those reproductions, for another $2 you get an audio guide. I opted for the free : )
