The church was open for the Sacred Sites Open House event organized by the New York Landmarks Conservancy
Of the original 55 stained glass windows designed by William Jay Bolton and his brother John, 54 are still intact. Bolton's work predated Tiffany and LaFarge by 40 years and these are the first set of figural stained glass windows made in North America. The church was built between 1844 and 1848.
It's amazing to come up to the second floor balcony and walk by these amazing windows and view the glowing colors and details up close.
