As we walked back along the pier at St Kilda we could see and hear a group of young men shouting and joking. As we drew closer we could see that one of the group, Matt, had took off his shoes and socks and was on the beach. It was cold and dark. The group were cheering Matt on to go into the sea. Although there was some mention of sharks it was clear that Matt was more worried that is was cold and slimy. However he went on up to his knees. The is a photo in the context folder showing the general scene.
After one of his mates joined him matt eventually threw himself into the water.
We joined him and his mates when he got out.
It transpires he had WON a bet, not lost one as we first thought. He was basically challenged to to do this and said he would , so he did. He was pretty cold and wet but agreed to have a photo for the project. Given the circumstances it was a snatched photo and the conditions meant I flicked the camera in to auto and got this quick flash assisted portrait. Whilst I guess it makes me a technical light weight it does give the flavour of the moment.
