This is just one of those things that float around in my junk drawers. It doesn't take up much space so it stays in the drawer, hidden in a corner or rolled to the back out of sight. When looking for something tiny it didn't just pop out I had to rummage around a bit until my eyes landed on it. Like the title says it's 4.2mm, spherical and made of alloy steel and to be honest I have no idea where it came from or when it came into my possession. HMM and thanks for any views, faves and comments.
An update. Not a bearing ball. My wife has reminded me that the grandsons had a BB gun phase and they left dozens of these things scattered about some of which ended up getting tossed into various places so as to avoid being stepped on. So, not a bearing, a BB.

My grandson was in his seventh grade school play as John, one of Wendy's brothers in Peter Pan. My wife bought him one of these compasses as a congratulatory gift. She liked it so much she bought one for herself. The inscription on the lid is, in case you didn't know, how to fly to Neverland. The compass is 50mm in diameter and the box is 77mm square on the outside and 60mm inside. HMM and thank you for all your views, faves and comments.

Ordinarily I wouldn't aim this lens toward the sun but that's the objective today. Because I had it stopped down to f22 for some shots I found out just how much dust is in this lens. There are built in filters and I used the orange one for this shot.
