Former coal fired power plant, constructed in the early 1920s out of concrete augmented with marble chips making it bright on its own. It must have been stunning under its original flood lights.
I first saw this on a cross-country train trip 10 years ago and have been trying to figure out how to illuminate it at night since. A few minutes after the 3 1/2 hour set up, an eastbound CSX train rolled by and I started packing up.

Western Maryland 1309 does its thing on a rainy December night, dragging a heavy cut of cars up the mountain without any slipping. The map calls this place along the Connellsville Extension Slabtown.
