This is in one of the newer costal defense bunkers that I've explored. The cement looked in such great shape - turns out it was built in the 1930s.
Into the 2000s, this was open, you could stand at one end and look down a long hallway to the other end.
When I was about ten, my aunt drove me down here to explore, I took a few steps in and ran away.
With years of salt air blowing in, every surface has the quality of something in a shipwreck.

The only time I tried this exploration-self-portrait stuff. And then I had to get a rabies shot. It'll be a while before I try such vanity again.
Strobist: sb600 on the ground at full power, triggered using the d70 In commander mode (using the popup flash to trigger slaves)

wish I had brought some light stands and pocket wizards
Strobist: Triggered by hand: too many bursts at the ceiling from behind the pillar, one or two down the drain from the same location, a burst towards the shopping cart from there (which caused some lens flair) and then I walked towards the camera with my light off and fired twice at the ceiling from behind the camera.

What if we photographed things right before they got covered up? We'd call it reverse archeology: uncovering what is about to be covered.
Strobist: 30 sec exposure to allow 4 flashes to be fired multiple times at full power. Two sb600s and two lumapro 120s. Triggered by a PW in my hand. Its amazing how much power it took to light up this space. I've got little tabletop tripods for the flashes (this is the driest tunnel I've ever seen and I still didn't want just drop the flashes on the floor)
