My dad was part of the Occupation of Japan as a Tech Sergeant, 3rd Gr in the US Army's MIS (Military Intelligence Service); more specifically, the Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS). He took this photo of the sign hanging outside Gen. Eichelberger's HQs in Yokohama in 1947.
