After receiving the bronze replica of the Congressional Gold Medal awarded to the Japanese Americans who served in the US Army during WWII today, I took it to my Aunt Eiko. Her husband, Paul S. Sakuma, joined the US Army out of a relocation camp. He volunteered to go to the then top secret Military Intelligence Service Language School (MISLS) in Ft. Snelling, MN.
My Aunt was bestowed the honor being surviving spouse. She cried deeply after holding the medal in her hands. She loved Uncle Paul greatly and still does to this day.
