This trip to Utah was the my first landscape trip for my Ricoh GR IIIx. Over the last decade I've used a couple versions of the Sony RX100 as my high-end pocket camera. I decided to go with the Ricoh when the Sony broke, after watching about a zillion hours of camera reviews. The IIIx version has a fixed 40mm (full frame equivalent) lens. I'm impressed with the results. Would definitely recommend as a camera as good as a DSLR in quality, that fits in your pants pocket or indiscreetly in the palm of your hand, but is simple as dial in "P", aim, and shoot, and know you're getting a great image. I like to enjoy the scenery and think about composition, not fool around with camera dials. And, in the broad daylight of a southwestern sky, it's not hard for any camera to get the settings right.
