Because it's Easter, I thought I would step away from recent prairie images and post something more, well, Easter-like. These White Fawn Lilies - also called White Trout Lilies, and occasionally, Easter Lilies - bloom on Canada's west coast around this time of year. A very different scene from the fresh blanket of snow that greeted me this morning when I woke up.
I remember making this shot, 24 years ago, in the olden days of film. I remember getting excited when I saw the two parallel flower shapes against that soft green forest background. I kept the lens wide to prevent too much background detail from overwhelming my subject. The light was perfect - cloudy bright, no harsh shadows. I had my camera on a tripod with a 105mm macro lens.
Exposure: 1/15 s at f/4 on Fujichrome Velvia (ISO 50).
