After my brief session with an American Badger that crossed a snow patch (see yesterday's post) and then the road in front of me, I got out of the car and photographed its tracks.

Note that the bottom print, from its right front foot, is larger than the other two (from its hind feet), and shows much longer claw marks. Badger is a digging demon!

The tracks, of course, are concave, but we may succumb to the optical illusion and see them as convex.

Photographed in Grasslands National Park, Saskatchewan (Canada). Don't use this image on websites, blogs, or other media without explicit permission ©2022 James R. Page - all rights reserved.
