I remember during my west coast years when Northern Shovelers were a rare sight. Here on the prairie, they are among the most common breeding ducks; I see them everywhere. This drake did a close flyby as I hiked along the shore of a lake. Many thanks to Rob, my telephone repair guy, for tipping me to this great location!
This is the start of a short set of ducks in flight. I want them grouped together in my photostream, but I don't think they are all that interesting individually, so I will upload 2 per day for 3 days and then move on to something else. Bear with me. When I'm done with the ducks I have three funny ones that I think will quack you up.
