This American Dipper is gathering moss to line its nest. In the background is the rushing, green Sooke River; wave surges would regularly wash over this rock. I had a small space to sit, with my back to a rock wall and sharp stones beneath my butt; not very comfortable, but worth putting up with for an hour or so for the chance of photographing the dipper pair coming and going. Sooke Potholes Regional Park, Vancouver Island, BC.
