The last shorebird (for now) in this series is the Upland Sandpiper. A rather elegant bird with a long neck, small head, and large eyes, it prefers grassy fields to traditional shorebird wetlands, and is often seen on fence posts in its breeding territory. I found this one at Chaplin Lake, one lake over from Reed, where I photographed all the other sandpipers in this set.

Photographed at Chaplin Lake, Saskatchewan (Canada). Don't use this image on websites, blogs, or other media without explicit permission ©2020 James R. Page - all rights reserved.

I've seen a few Upland Sandpipers this summer, but this was the first close photo op with a good, unobtrusive background. It didn't fly off immediately when I pulled up in my car, and called several times from its fence post perch along a back road near Val Marie, Saskatchewan.
