Kevin instinctively knew what I wanted when I asked him to move closer to the clock; he dropped his smile and allowed me to try for something more symbolic than simple portraiture. I intentionally placed him a little closer to the camera than the clock face, to keep him in sharp focus and allow the clock to be slightly out. Thus the eye keeps returning to Kevin's face.
