One of the more memorable times I incorrectly identified a bird by its call was at Whitewater State Park in 2021. What made it so memorable is that I was so convinced I was hearing a Scarlet Tanager, only to find out that it was most definitely a Yellow-throated Vireo. Both birds share a fairly similar "raspy" or "scratchy" voice. Ever since then, I've paid close attention to both calls and had some good practice learning to differentiate them. So it was kind of fitting to get great views of another Yellow-throated Vireo on our visit to the same state park again, three years later. Whitewater State Park, Winona County, MN 05/06/24
