Seeing a handful of first-of-year birds in the sun this afternoon, did wonders for my mood. The view of this Northern Flicker is a bit from underneath, but that allowed some of the yellow-shafted feathers to be seen. This was right around the time our high temperature for the day peaked at just 12ºF. Hennepin County, 01/04/25
