This is a sculpture at Dead Indian Pass, north of Cody, Wyoming, on the Chief Joseph Highway. In 1877 the Nez Perce Indians were fleeing from the U.S. Calvary on their way to Canada to escape being put on reservation. A Nez Pearce was reputedly killed near here.
