This was just to get the hang of taking screenshots in minecraft. I later took one at this angle without the control bar, but I liked the ambiance in this one better.
This is a cave/ravine about halfway down, I think. At the other end of this someone has a fairly extensive obsidian farm going.

Oh yeah, it totally lights up at night. :)
The choices for reddish blocks in Minecraft aren't great, but I realized that due to the straight up/down nature of the windows, I could use lava instead. So at the top of each level I prepared a path for the lava to flow, and then at the bottom it's safely caught so that it doesn't spill anywhere.
Although just to be safe, there's no wood at all used in the construction. ;)

So, some friends of mine got me hooked on the game. Setting out into the server I found a nice, mostly circular lake which inspired me to build a floating island above it. After the island was built I was stumped for what to build on top of it. So I began looking through all the buildings i've built over the years, and when I spotted my Robot Arms Apts. building from Futurama I just knew it would translate well into the game.
This building is pretty much built to the exact same specs as my LEGO model - every minecraft block represents a 2x2x2 cube in LEGO blocks. Obviously there's a few differences, but they're mostly technical.

Building up past the clouds was pretty fun - but I won't say I didn't fall a few times. ;)
I took out a few trees just to get this shot - hopefully they'll grow back.
