Château Guillard is a fictional castle from the video game Overwatch. It is based on many 17th century-era castles often seen in the south of France. This layout has been designed to fit with NILTC's train displays.

This build has the full interior as seen in the game. There is quite a bit that has been built but cannot be seen when on full display, but you can see everything in this gallery, along with my little commentary on a few pics.

This castle was started in April 2019 and finished November 2021. I would estimate actual building/planning time to be about 6-8 months. There is approximately 70,000 pieces. The castle itself rests on a 50" x 50" footprint, the tracks bring the whole layout to 60" x 60".

This will be seen at most NILTC shows in 2022, including Brickworld Chicago. The next appearance will be at the NILTC's annual Christmas show at Cantigny Park, Wheaton, IL, Dec. 4th and 5th, 2021.

I designed this building for display, and that means it had to be designed for transport. Since I'm not insane enough to make one massive build, the castle was designed in several sections to be taken apart, packed securely for traveling, and then reassembled. There around 140+ different sections, the largest being the central roof section and the turret seen here.

I did my best to disguise all the breaks, but in some places I needed to have a break right in the middle of the wall. Some of the more obvious segment breaks can be seen here.

My original design for the turret cone looked more like the half-cone seen on the side of the building. However, this proved to be _very_ fragile and the difficult angle made for a lot of gaps to see through. I rebuilt it into the very solid cone seen here.

Sombra was the first custom character I made for this display, and I put her in scuba gear entirely because of this comic.
