Caption- Abstract: |
A walk through the countryside of Haarzuilens village and the estate of Castle de Haar. .The fertile river clay and higher location made the Haarzuilens area an important settlement location as early as the Iron Age, about 2,000 years ago. There were already fields at this location in the Iron Age. During this period there were probably several farms on the Wielrevelt. On the route you will pass a full-size map of an Iron Age farm...In the distance you see an example of a fortified house from the Middle Ages, the Hamtoren. The first dating dates back to 1325 from the former Castle den Ham. It is the only remaining fortified residential tower in the Utrecht area. |
