Recently on a trip to San Francisco we went to have dinner at the "Off the Grid" food truck event at Fort Mason in the Marina district. I walked along the docks to get a view of the San Francisco Bay with Alcatraz and Angel Island.

I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW image.

This is a Mexican poinsettia, also known as the Christmas Flower. I took this shot at Santana Row in San Jose, California. I used a wide open f1.8 to get this shallow depth of field, resulting in blurred overlapping lights in the back.

Yesterday we went launching rockets at the Snow Ranch in the California Central Valley. It is a huge ranch with 3000 acres / 1200 hectares. The rocket launch is organized by LUNAR, the biggest rocket club in the USA. More than 200 people participated in the rocket launch. It was a perfect day enjoying yummy paella and launching rockets with no wind!

In this sequence a high power rocket with a sparky motor takes off. It made a nice rumbling sound.

I took RAW exposures in rapid sports mode. I processed them into balanced HDR photos, then tiled them to depict the launch sequence.

Last month I joined a fun a photowalk on beautiful Mt. Tamalpais near Mill Valley, north of San Francisco. We were a big group, disbursed on several hills around the mountain. I like the small (almost) silhouettes figures and the strong contrast.

There is no band called Deep Blue, but there is a classic one with a similar name.

In December we went skiing on Mt. Rose, near Reno, Nevada. I took this shot near the summit while riding the lift.

I processed a smooth HDR photo from a RAW exposure and desaturated the result.
