Unit History
The class 142 (Pacer) was built by British Rail Engineering in Derby between 1985 and 1987. The train body is based on that of the Leyland National bus and amazingly, for what was a cheap and nasty stopgap, these units are still going strong. 142078 is from the second batch of forty six units, built in 1986/87 and now over thirty years old.
