A walk around Attenborough Nature Reserve with my wife and three youngest grandchildren and through the trees and across the water is a Cross Country Class 170 two car unit, 29th March 2018.

170101 passes Barton Lane crossing, 17th November 2007.

Unit History
The first of the Bombardier Turbostar fleet it was delivered in 1998 to Midland Main Line for stopping services between London St Pancras and the East Midlands. In 2004 then Midland Main Line Turbostars where displaced to Central Trains by new class 222 Meridian units moving later to Arriva Cross Country. Over three years after transferring away from Midland Main Line it is still basically carries its Midland Main Line livery from 1998.

170101 departs Beeston station and passes over the foot crossing to Attenborough nature reserve just west of the station, Good Friday, 21st March 2008.

It was delivered in Midland Main Line green and tangerine livery in 1998. In 2004, Midland Main Line introduced new class 222 Meridian units, which displaced the Turbostars to Central Trains. 170101 is now operated by Arriva Cross Country but still basically carries its Midland Main Line livery from 1998.

170101 departs Oakham heading east, 15th July 2008. It is in need of “fitters attention” as it is unable to couple to other units at the leading end at least, as denoted by the X in the cab window.

In 2004, Midland Main Line introduced new class 222 Meridian units, which displaced the Turbostars to Central Trains. 170101 is now operated by Arriva Cross Country who are currently (September 2008) refurbishing and repaint their Turbostar fleet, however 170101 still basically carries its Midland Main Line livery from 1998 and is awaiting its turn in the programme.
