319007 departs Kentish Town for Sutton on a lovely winters day, 16th January 2012.

Unit History
The class 319 units were built for north - south cross London duties from the Midland Main Line to Southern Region destinations made possible by the reopening and electrification of the short link from Farringdon to Blackfriars. The units have a dual electrification capability (25kVA ac, 750v dc) and were built at York works in two batches in 1987/88 and 1990. 319007 is from the first batch of sixty units and is one of thirteen units which were dedicated on privatization to outer suburban services south of the river Thames and in consequence a number lost there 25KV equipment for a while. With the need for additional capacity on the Thameslink services these thirteen units (319001 – 319013) where soon back on duties they were originally designed for and are currently sub-leased by Southern to First Capital Connect.
