90047 stands in platform 2 at Birmingham New Street waiting to depart with 1B29, 08:50 Birmingham – Euston, 24th January 2011.

Locomotive History
90047 was built at Crewe works in 1989 for West Coast Main Line duties with a top speed of 110mph. In the early 1990’s, with the sectorisation of British Rail, twenty-six locomotives were dedicated for freight traffic, reclassified as class 90/1 and were renumbered into the range 90125-150. The modifications included lowering the maximum speed to 75 mph and isolating the electric train heating. However 90047 has since been returned to its original class 90/0 configuration. It is currently operated by Freightliner and carries there original grey with red branding livery although as can be seen it is at this point in time on hire to Virgin trains.

A wet and miserable day in London finds East Coast Railway 91104 recently arrived in the new Platform 0 at Kings Cross, 12th January 2011.

Locomotive History
91104 was built Crewe Works with electrical equipment supplied by GEC and entered traffic in June 1988. The design was derived from the power cars of the ill-fated Advanced Passenger Train. The asymmetric body style is streamlined at one end to allow high speed operation with the fixed sets of Mark 4 coaches in normal push-pull passenger operation. In addition a second cab is incorporated into the 'blunt end' however when operating with the 'blunt end' leading the maximum speed of the locomotive is limited to 110mph due to aerodynamic stability. Originally numbered 91004 the whole class underwent a refit to improve reliability between 2000 and 2003 and were renumbered on individual completion from 910xx to 911xx.

Stored in 2020 it was dispatched to CF Booth for breaking up in late March 2022.
