A recent arrival at the Great Central Railway is 08907, stabled in the sidings at Loughborough, 2nd January 2017.

Locomotive History
08907 was built at Horwich Works as D4137 and entered traffic in June 1962 allocated to Burton MPD. In December 1965 it transferred to Leicester and in September 1969 to Holyhead where it remained until February 1983 when it transferred to Crewe. It spent its later years allocated to Old Oak Common, Bescot, Crewe and Toton although these allocations in the latter years became rather meaningless with respect to the locomotives actual location. It received an E exam in March 2003 at Ferrybridge, a repaint into DB livery at Bescot in October 2013 and sold to a private owner by DB Cargo in November 2016.

Locomotive History
Trojan was built by the Avonside Engine Company of Bristol in 1897 (Works No. 1386) for Messrs Dunn & Shute of Newport Town Dock. It was purchased by the Alexandra Docks Railway in 1903, and on absorption of the Alexandra Docks Railway into the Great Western in 1923, “Trojan” received the number 1340. Although based mainly at Cardiff Cathays and Radyr depots, it also worked for a time in Oswestry and Greenford, London. It was withdrawn from Cardiff by the Great Western Railway in July 1932 and was sold to the Netherseal colliery at Burton-on-Trent, who sold it on to Alders (Tamworth) ltd in 1947. Sold for preservation it arrived at the Didcot Railway Centre in 1968 and was eventually restored returning to traffic in 2002. It is currently awaiting overhaul.
