West Midlands Railway 150107 has reached the bottom of the Likey Incline and approaches Bromsgrove working 1V29, 14:50 Birmingham New Street – Hereford, 26th July 2018.

Unit History
150107 is one of the first production batch (fifty two car units) of “second generation” Diesel Multiple Units built as replacements for the original Diesel Multiple Unit fleet introduced in the late 1950’s. I still consider these to be modern vehicles but they are now approaching thirty years old as they were built at York works in 1985. When built 150107 was used on East Midlands duties based at Etches Park, Derby and I remember them arriving and displacing the Swindon Cross Country (class 120) sets. They were soon displaced themselves with the introduction of the class 156 units on East Midlands duties in 1988 and the class 150/1 units migrated to Tyseley for Birmingham suburban duties. Whilst at Tyseley the unit was made up to a three car set with the incorporation of 52202 from disbanded class 150/2 set 150202 to become 150007. With introduction of the class 172 fleet in 2012 these hybrid three car sets were generally disbanded and 150107 was reformed as originally delivered.

My ride to Sheffield (1Y06, 07:18 Nottingham – Leeds) in the form of Northern 150222 stands in the rain in Platform 3 at Nottingham, 31st July 2018.

Unit History
150222 is one of the final batch of eighty five class 150 two-car units which were built at York Works in 1986/87. Now over thirty years old and recently refurbished for a few more years in service the railway have certainly had there moneys worth from the initial capital investment.

East Midlands Trains 153321 stands in the platform at Collingham working 2K45, 15:28 Norwark Northgate – Peterborough (via Lincoln), 31st July 2018. I was on my way home from a day out and had decided that I would travel York – Newark Northgate and then walk across to Newark Castle to catch the train to Attenborough. Whilst on the train from York a further study of “Real Time Trains” I noticed I could catch 2K45 to Collingham and catch the Attenborough train from there, avoiding the walk across Newark.
