The 155 V6 TI is one of the most widely recognized and iconic DTM race cars of the ‘90s. With a classic racing wedge shape and starkly simple lines it quickly became a symbol on the track and has remained a legend. The V6 TI had major influence on the highly competitive DTM racing series dominating it’s first season outright and nearly winning the subsequent two seasons all between 1993 and 1996, forcing the Mercedes and BMW teams to significantly change their tactics. This winning #10 car finds its way to the PYP garage just in time for a Spring once-over.

Post Script: I started building at this scale in 2018 and creating a replica of an Alfa 155 race car was one of the first things I did. Comparing that early version (here on Flickr) with this new design shows how dramatically my understanding of the Lego system has changed and how that understanding has enabled my ability to achieve a greater degree of realism. Back then Speed Champions was a completely new theme and small parts that enabled shaping transitions were very limited. Everything was cartoonish and a bit clumsy, but it was so much fun to open up that world and start this journey.
