On the last day of our Maui holiday we drove up, up, up through the clouds and rain into Kula which clings lushly to the flanks of Haleakala. The rain lessened to a mist and we wandered, ensorcelled, through Kula Botanical Gardens which was created by one family over many years. There was so much to marvel at, unusual plants and trees and flowers, and all of it enhanced by the life-giving water that keeps Maui magical.

Our local mountains always get snow every winter, but seldom do you see them covered with snow from top to bottom. When the sun came out yesterday and revealed them, I was totally wowed, one of the few times I've wished for a long lens. I took this from an overpass as we slowly drove over. Maybe we'll get some more shots today.
