After dropping my brother-in-law at the airport yesterday we deked off into Burkeville, a small historic community built on Sea Island right next to the airport. The homes were built by Boeing in 1943 for its employees. When the war ended many returning veterans bought homes here. All of the streets are names of aircraft manufacturers such as Douglas, Boeing, Catalina etc. A lot of the homes have been replaced by new houses but many retain their vintage charm. All of the streets are lined with huge and lovely old trees. I was thrilled to walk down a few of these streets, with the pleasant sounds of planes taking off and landing around us. I am planning a return visit soon, its my kind of neighbourhood :)

I couldn't resist these chrysanthemums at the grocery store. They were the perfect shade of Autumn gold.
