Yesterday the weather was gloriously sunny, so I popped up the coast to the seal colony at Donna Nook. Despite the crowds I had a superb day watching the seals and took plenty of photos of them.

Shortly before I headed home I noticed that a heavily pregnant Grey Seal was becoming very restless and birth looked imminent, so I watched and waited.

Word quickly spread and lots of people came to see the event. I suspect mine won't be the only photos appearing on Flickr!

A couple of minutes after her waters broke, the pup's head could be seen crowning.

The cow rolled around quite a lot at this stage, but fortunately most of the time she faced in just the right direction for me to see what was happening.
