Gli impérios sono cappelle molto particolari dedicate allo Spirito Santo. Secondo la leggenda tutto ebbe inizio con un sogno in cui lo Spirito Santo ordinò alla regina Isabel la costruzione di una chiesa in suo onore e di un “imperatore” scelto dalla sovrana fra tutti gli operai che lavorarono all’opera. Da qui il nome Impérios e sono la location d’eccellenza per celebrare le feste dello Spirito Santo, tutt’oggi molto sentite in tutto l'arcipelago delle Azzorre tanto che durano diverse settimane.

The Impérios are very peculiar chapels dedicated to the Holy Spirit. According to the legend, the Holy Ghost appeared in a dream to Queen Isabel and ordered her the construction of a church in his honor along with the election of an “emperor” to be chosen among the workers who built up the church (that’s why the name Impérios). They are the main location of the Holy Spirit festivals, nowadays very popular in all Azorian islands, lasting some weeks.

Il vulcano Pico rappresenta la cima più alta del Portogallo (2.351m) Con la sua parte sommersa arriva a quasi 5.000 metri.

Pico volcano is the highest mountain of Portugal, at 2,351 meters above the sea level. With its underwater part it reaches a height of almost 5.000 meters.
