About a quarter of a mile north of the tiny hamlet of Eldred, Illinois sits this long abandoned farm. The house, maybe of the Civil War era is constructed of heavy limestone blocks. All the outbuildings including the silo are long gone. The gambrel barn is constructed of ceramic blocks and most likely is around 90 years old. It would be interesting to speculate how many barns preceded it. 1404
