It’s a spectacular autumn morning in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania on October 23, 1988. At famous Horseshoe Curve west of Altoona, a pair of Conrail EMD SD40 pushers lean into a westbound CR freight past the trackside park.

It's the spring of 1989 and I've caught early CSX blue and gray turning south on the wye at Deshler, Ohio. Everything dates late 80s here, including the Yellow Freight truck waiting at the crossing.
