Large grey head with white crescent on each side identifies the male. Female identified from female Green-winged Teal by larger bill, more heavily spotted undertail coverts, yellowish legs. In comparison with female Cinnamon Teal, look for Bluewing's greyer plumage, bolder facial markings and smaller bill.
